The model GP‐1500 D.C. Hipot unit was designed to be a modern replacement for the obsoleted Railway Equipment model 912. This is a completely portable, battery‐operated, 1,500 Volt, Direct Current (D.C.) product that is rugged enough for harsh locomotive environments. It includes a high‐quality rugged commercial aluminum enclosure, Lexan front operator panel, phenolic industrial‐rated panel meters with glass windows and rubber high‐voltage industry‐standard test lead assemblies.
The volts adjust control allows for a smooth and accurate, single‐turn setting from zero to full‐scale. The current measurements have a range of 0 to 5 Milliampere or 0 to 25 Milliampere, selectable. The unit is protected from over‐voltage and over‐current shut‐down circuitries. For operator protection, the “Test” push‐button must be depressed at all times and will revert to a standby mode if lifted.
